Renaming the Process Definition

Learn to rename a Process Definition

Last published at: May 7th, 2026

This function renames a Process Definition and adds the new name to the artifact's history.

Note: A process workflow can assign tasks, route forms, and generate documents through its process and form instances. Tasks and forms assigned to users can also be attached to files. These files and documents are stored in the application file server or in the DMS file storage folder, whose configuration is defined in the “Start” process step. Therefore, renaming a process definition shall also trigger changes to the process instance and the form instance in the DMS file storage folder.

On the Process Definition page, select the process in the table, then click “Actions > Rename”.

Provide a new name, then click the “Update” button to confirm.

The Process Definition is renamed, and a confirmation message appears in the top-right corner.

On the Process Definition page, select the process in the table, then click “View > History”.

The history of actions is listed in the table below. The “defName update" message confirms that the process definition was renamed at the specified datetime.
